Project Coordinators

Project Coordinators support Project Managers and Site Supervisors to manage project schedules and ensure project targets are achieved. This is done by maintaining records of all materials used and the progress made on the job and updating documents and assisting with procedures related to change orders among others. Project Coordinators also provide status updates and support with project forecasting and coordinating the delivery of equipment and materials.

Requirements: Post secondary education related to electrical engineering or equivalent is typically required as well as construction trade experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and project management software is also required as well as the ability to understand drawings and communicate effectively to multiple stakeholders.

Project Managers

Project Managers plan, organize, direct and evaluate assigned projects according to schedule, specifications and budget. They establish and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders, clients, consultants, other trades, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the community, while keeping them informed. They plan, prepare, monitor, and manage construction schedules and milestones and report on progress, labour productivity, work outcomes, budget and costs. They also manage project teams to ensure requirements for safety, document control, change order process, equipment and material deliveries, site meetings and progress documentation are adhered to.

Requirements: Education in Project Management, Electrical Engineering or Construction Management are usually required. Knowledge of estimation, scheduling, Project design interpretation, Business operations processes are typically beneficial in this position. It requires a lot of problem-solving, collaboration and communication.

Electrical Estimators

Electrical Estimators review and understand job specifications and drawings and follow the estimating process to develop competitive bids.AS part of the process, they may conduct site/tender walk-through to cross reference drawings to avoid site interferences and identify proactive solutions. They use estimating software to develop accurate quotations after communication and coordination with clients and su7b-contractors and supplies to obtain accurate information including pricing and design specifications.

Requirements: An Electrical Engineering degree or diploma and/or trade experience is usually required in addition to experience in Microsoft Office and relevant software including but not limited to Accubid and Live Count.

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Coordinators

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Coordinators advise and ensure compliance of the safety policies and programs for the employer. They evaluate & monitor health & safety hazards & develop control strategies for job sites. They coordinate workplace inspections and review any findings with appropriate parties and follow up by documenting items which require correction. They inspect worksites to ensure that equipment & materials do not present a safety or health hazard to employees or to the general public to ensure compliance with policies and legislation. They review or complete incident and inspection reports and ensure that corrective action is taken.

Requirements: Post secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Studies or equivalent are usually required. Working knowledge of provincial and federal HSE regulations, programs and standards including OHSA is required and certification as National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) may also be required.

CAD/BIM Revit Technicians

CAD/BIM Revit Technicians contribute to the execution of design, construction, and technical drawings throughout each phase of a project. They utilize Revit and AutoCAD to develop Revit models and prepare drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, and other data. Prepare Autodesk Revit drawings from sketches, mark-ups, and design of electrical systems. They develop various electrical system layouts in co-ordination with the mechanical, structural, and architectural components of a building and check for interferences with other components of the building.

Requirements: Education in computer drafting in AutoCAD and REVIT, Electrical technician or technologist (diploma), or related experience in Revit is usually required for this position. Competency in Autodesk Navis Works, Autodesk Design Review and knowledge of 3D layout and design is also essential.
